While many people think Newman Asset Management, LLC is a custodian, we are actually not a custodian but a “facilitator.” In our world, a facilitator is a person or group that works with people to make sound setup & investment decisions for money being held at, or via, a custodian or trustee. This could include an IRA, self-directed IRA, IRA-LLC, self-directed 401(k), personal trust, or family trust.
So what does all that mean in plain English? It means that we will work with you on setting up and using your retirement money no matter who your custodian is. We not only help you make the right choices depending on your investment goals, but also to make sure that when you need to get to your money, the process is as simple and straightforward as possible.
Can’t I just do this with the custodian and not use a facilitator? While you certainly can setup an account with a custodian on your own, the custodian by law cannot give you investment advice. That is why Newman Asset Management works with you to setup an account that will work for you in terms of costs, ease of use, and investment goals.
Does Newman Asset Management get paid by each custodian? No; each custodian will have its own setup fees and related costs. We work with you to help you make the right choice depending on your investment goals. The only fees you may have from us would be related to products or services we offer, and are not tied directly to any one custodian.
If I am already setup with a self-directed IRA or IRA-LLC, can you still work with me and my custodian? Of course; we do this all the time. Our goal is to not only get you to the point of having access of your money to make a good investment, but to then help you in choosing good investments for your stated goals.
Why shouldn’t I just sign-up online for some basic custodian setup, or online kit? You could certainly do that, but it may turn out like some other online package deals - it isn’t the best fit for most people due to their individual financial goals and needs and thus you end up wasting money. Our clients find they can work with us directly, get the proper account they need for their goals, and still be better off in terms of costs vs. benefits.
Below you will find links to the key custodians that we work with. All have clients that we have either setup, or helped after setup, in using their retirement dollars in the best way possible. Though we have worked with many others the ones listed below are, in our opinion, the best at what they offer. Let us help you find the right product and service to meet your investment goals.
